Multi-level marketing (MLM) has left a negative stigma to many people and mainly it’s because of the recruitment hype. Perhaps, this is one of the reasons why many networking distributors are having a hard time making money through this platform.

While it’s true, I’ve known a few network marketing companies that are not only legitimate but also profitable.

In this post, we’ll talk about a brand called International Silver Network or ISN for short.

It’s a company that promotes silver and gold and the opportunity to make money through multi-level marketing. 

While gold and silver are valuable, does this mean that they can provide a lucrative source of income?

International Silver Network (ISN) is an MLM company that markets and sells modern silver coins and gold coins as well as Platinum and Palladium. It’s almost the same as 7K Metals and Karatbars International.

It was in 2010 when International Silver Network was founded by Matt Barkes and Vincent Roy. 

Apparently, International Silver Network is the direct sales arm of ISN Modern Coins, which is one of the largest modern coin dealers in the US. 

Being an MLM, other than selling their modern coins, it also offers an affiliate program where one can earn as they recruit others to also join the program. 

International Silver Network is similar to Numis Network as they both share the common characteristics of an MLM company and are dealing with silver coins.

However, the notable differences between the two companies are the compensation plan and the varieties of their products.

International Silver Network Product Line

As mentioned above, International Silver Network is a company that offers to purchase precious metals -- silver and gold coins.

There is no doubt that ISN has been a legitimate company. Apparently, the coins that you will be receiving are authentic.

For coin collectors, this can be a good addition to their collection.

The brand has even received positive reviews for its products.

However, this is not the case with the opportunity that they are offering. 

For one, the website is not accessible anymore. Does this mean that ISN has finally shut down? If yes, why? Is it because they’ve been tagged as a scam?

Another thing is that it’s expensive and for someone who doesn't know much about gold or silver, it can be a challenge to promote their products.

Before anything else, let’s clarify a couple of things. First, multi-level marketing is a legit business model and despite the negative, there’s a chance to make money from this legally.

Pyramid and Ponzi schemes, on the other hand, are downright illegal. 

Now the question is -- is International Silver Network a legit MLM or a scam?

International Silver Network is a legit business model as it has tangible products to sell. You can make money through retail sales alone and despite the recruitment, members are compensated not for inviting another person but from the sales that their invite makes.

That being said, recruitment is not the sole source of income here, thus not a pyramid scheme.

There’s also no promise of guaranteed return of investment, therefore not a Ponzi scheme.

The downside, however, is that there’s a heavy emphasis on recruitment so even if it’s a legit MLM, there’s a chance for ISN to be considered as a scam.

These are 7 ways to Earn in International Silver Network’s Compensation Plan

1. Retail Sales Commissions - As an independent coin shop owner, ISN pays you 10 dollars for each coin sold and dropships the coins to your customers.

2. Preferred Collector Commissions - This lets the members earn an income on a residual basis. 

3. Unilevel Commissions - This is the commission you earn when your downline, up to the 8th level, has made a sale.

• Enroller Commissions
• Linked Enroller Commissions
• Linked Residual Commissions

Being an MLM, it runs on Affiliate Ranks, too. To get a higher rank means selling more of their products and inviting more people to join the platform.

Below are the ranks:

Direct Sales Rep - Earn on all personal sales

Business Pro - Promoted to begin earning maximum payouts

Silver Business Pro - Personally enroll 1 Business Pro and qualify to earn more income 

Gold Business Pro - Personally enroll 2 Business Pro and qualify to earn more income and so on (and basically, the higher the rank, the more you’ll earn

Joining International Silver Network is tied to a $198 initial payment plus a monthly payment of $119.90. 

This is expensive, which is not unusual anymore since it’s an MLM company. Considering the structure and the products sold, it might be a challenge to earn an income here, let alone get your investment back.

PROS

Variety Of Products

Unlike similar companies, ISN has a variety of products sold, such as silver and gold. This makes the brand appealing to coin collectors as they have a lot of options to choose from.

It can also be an advantage to sellers since their buyers are not limited to buying one product alone.

CONS

Lack Of Transparency

I’ve only seen a couple of reviews to dig something about ISN. It seems like most information about it is hidden or already gone. 

I’m not sure though but perhaps, it has ceased its operation that even its domain website is not accessible.

Limited Market

Gold and silver are valuable but precious metals are not cheap.

Buying it would really cost you a big amount of money. 

So it’s basically for the rich and financially capable and since not all may want to have their products and not all can afford them, it would be really hard to sell and market these products. 

If you want to pursue your membership here or on other similar platforms, you should know how to find the right leads to sustain this kind of business.  

Recruitment Hype

Being an MLM, you will still be forced to recruit people to earn more commissions. Considering that the market in this niche is limited, it might be extra challenging to grow the business.

In case you’re not familiar with how recruitment works, it takes guts to talk to another person and invite them to an expensive platform. not only will your networking skills be tested, but they might also put a strain on your relationship with friends and family. Unless you think such an opportunity is worth your time, it’s best to consider another alternative.

Basically just like most e-commerce MLMs, you’ll gain access to the back office, training materials, and tools needed for the business. You’ll also be provided with a website you could sell the products online.

International Silver Network offers authentic modern coins as their product and is a legit MLM company. 

It might be a good business opportunity for anyone who is fond of precious metals, such as silver and gold. It can also be a platform for coin collectors.

However, it’s not the best nor a good platform if you want to make money. It’s a difficult niche and considering that the website is gone, it might suggest that the business is not operating anymore. 

Other than that, there’s too much emphasis on recruitment, therefore despite being legit, it might be flagged as a pyramid scheme by the FTC.

Being an MLM platform, it is challenging, and not that I’m nothing against MLMs but success is rare. A study even suggests that only 1% of MLM participants make money.

What I learned so far is that if you want to join networking companies, you need to have the right skills and experience to sell expensive products and invite people.

This can be frustrating but the good news is that there are better alternatives that you can consider and most of which won’t require you to recruit.
