Is AMSOIL A Scam? Synthetic Oil Manufacturer-Distributor In Review!

In reality, most people buy into jobs because of monetary gains. And then comes multi-level marketing companies that come with great promises and big compensation. 

A lot of businesses operate on such platforms, from the health and wellness niche, beauty, name it… they’re already a lot these days…and here comes a motor oil company that follows a network marketing platform.

AMSOIL, which we will be discussing in this review, is a motor company that offers various options to make money, such as making a sale and through recruitment. But the question is: can you really make money on this platform?

What are the things you need to know first before joining the program?

AMSOIL is a legitimate multi-level marketing company that offers and distributes synthetic lubricants and greases for automobiles. It also formulates and packages fuel additives and filters. AMSOIL brand was the First Synthetic™ (American Petroleum Institute) API–rated oil developed for automotive use. 

Synthetic oils are lubricants consisting of chemical compounds that are artificially made. They are claimed to be better on your engine and have fewer impurities, it can go longer than conventional oils or synthetic blends.

Albert J. Amatuzio, who passed away in 2017, founded AMSOIL Inc. while serving as Squadron Commander of the Duluth, Minn. Air National Guard. AMSOIL. He developed several synthetic motor oil formulations in the mid-to-late 1960s. 

In 1968, he commercially sold synthetic motor oils and it was in 1972 that AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil became the world's first synthetic motor oil to meet American Petroleum Institute (API) requirements. 

They also introduced several other synthetic lubricants that represented industry firsts throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. It was in 1973, that it made the shift to multi-level marketing. And so it distributed products in North America through a network of independent dealers following a direct-marketing business model. 

AMSOIL is primarily operating in the US and Canada. It’s an American corporation whose international headquarters is based in Superior, Wisconsin. However, throughout the years it even went internationally. Products are now available worldwide from authorized distributors. 

AMSOIL Product Line

AMSOIL is an MLM that manufactures and distributes various synthetic lubricants, filters, fuel additives, and other products. The AMSOIL product line includes multiple synthetic lubricants.

As you can see they have a wide range of products which are primarily for passenger cars and trucks, Auto & Light truck, heavy-duty equipment, wind turbines, hydraulic applications, motorcycles, ATV, UTV, marine outboard/motors, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and more. 

Indeed, as they claim, high-quality synthetic lubricants that maximize the performance of nearly anything you ride, drive, or operate.

Well, product-wise? They did receive good reviews from people. For being on the run for a couple of decades, they have indeed established a name in the industry. 

It’s even a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited business with an A+ rating. It goes to show that people are satisfied with its product and services. As they said, Amsoil provides excellent protection, low wear, and the ability to greatly extend (Oil-Climate Index) OCI's in most cases. 

Their products are even reasonably priced especially if you become a preferred customer or a dealer. 

How To Make Money With AMSOIL?

As a dealer in AMSOIL, you’ll basically gain commissions through retail sales and through group sales, which is basically the concept behind recruitment.

It works almost the same as these MLM brands -- Trunited and B3 Sciences. 

1. Retail Sales - You buy products at Wholesale (Dealer) Cost and sell them at a retail cost to your customers, making a retail profit. You sell 70% of the total amount of product purchased during the month to receive the commission due. It is understood that you must buy ahead and the 70% policy allows you to build additional inventory.

2. Sponsorship/ Group Commission - You can increase your profits by sponsoring other people into the AMSOIL business opportunity. 

• You may earn a commission on the individual purchases of Dealers you have sponsored, provided you fulfill the personal minimum requirement- which is through the generation of a minimum of 50 individual commission credits or by being incentive-qualified (for example sponsoring or registering one qualified Dealer, Preferred Customer or account for the month or sponsoring or registering 12 qualified Dealers, Preferred Customers or accounts in the past 12 months). 

You are compensated only when and if a new Dealer generates sales and purchases, and not for introducing a new Dealer.

• Each Dealer in your group fulfilling the minimum requirement and retail sales requirement is also entitled to a commission on their purchases and the individual purchases of Dealers/accounts in their group. 
• A 20% commission on a Dealer’s group commission credits is guaranteed to any incentive qualified Dealer that develops a qualified Direct Group, either personally or down the group, but is not a qualified Direct Dealer or Direct Jobber.

3. Status 

• Direct Dealer - Earned when you have 3000 or more personal group commission credits and meet the personal minimum requirements (title retained for a year). 
• Direct Jobber - To become a Direct Jobber, a Dealership must reach and maintain 3000 personal group commission credits and meet the personal minimum requirements each month for three months. Following three consecutive months of qualification, you will attain the status of Direct Jobber. 

4. Performance Commissions

AMSOIL will pay a 5% to 9% performance commission on your first level Qualified Direct Jobbers’ group commission credits for fulfilling the requirements. A 5% performance commission will be paid on your first-level qualified Direct Dealers’ group commission credits. 

A Direct Dealer will remain part of your group until the Dealership qualifies as a Direct Jobber. The 5% performance commission must be passed to the upline Direct Jobber if the Direct Dealer’s group commission credits are used for your Direct Jobber qualification.

The Performance Commission is paid to a Qualified Direct Jobber by AMSOIL based on their group commission credits and the number of first levels Direct Jobber groups.

AMSOIL is a legitimate MLM opportunity and it is not a scam. It is even a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited company which may show its legitimacy. And they do hold an A+ rating from BBB. They’ve been running for a couple of decades and are still standing up to this day which goes to show it is already an established company. 

More than earning through sales, AMSOIL has incorporated an MLM platform ever since 1973. They have had the dealership opportunity since that year and even grown up to this day.

PROS

Established Company With Great Products

Being in the business for a long time, AMSOIL is indeed an established company with products that have been patronized by buyers. I also commend them for placing more focus on sales rather than recruitment.

Sponsorship

The fact that AMSOIL sponsors several motorsports events, race series, motorcycle rallies, professional drivers, and other influencers is also commendable. At least the passion for selling such oils for machine use has gone to a wonderful cause that is as well related to the niche. 

CONS

MLM Stigma

MLMs may have a stigma to some and upon hearing it tend to avert such. You can’t blame people because although there have been MLMs that have been established and are successful, not all will do good with it. MLMs can be a place of scams to happen. 

Well, it’s not to deride them but it’s a fact that has happened and is happening to some. So in this case, it will be a challenge for a business with such platforms if you don’t have the guts and skills. Well, unlike most MLMs, AMSOIL is not a rich quick scheme. However, you’ll still opt to work hard to gain a lucrative income.

Packaged With Vitamins?

Upon receiving the package as a dealer, there’s a vitamin included. To explain that, they say that most AMSOIL dealers are family-oriented. The wife doesn't understand very much about lubrication in vehicle drive trains, but she does have a passion for taking care of health and the Altrum Division of AMSOIL allows them to help with the business in her own way. 

Well, it’s beneficial to their health. However, most people would have confusion about why incorporate a vitamin with a motor oil business. That’s definitely quite odd. Would the reason justify it or is it another hidden agenda?

This business opportunity is really intended for those who are into MLM platforms especially those who are skilled and experienced when it comes to sales. Since products are mostly for automotive, it favors men more but can be as well business for women if they are also fond of and passionate with automotive, motor oils, and lubricants.

AMSOIL provides access to several free training resources through AMSOIL University Online which helps people learn more about lubrication fundamentals and their products. As a dealer, they will as well host your web page and they will help your co-op trade shows and sponsor race teams if desired. They also provide tools to help you grow your business and a team that can help you and answer your queries. They also host live training events.

Overall, I would not recommend joining this MLM. Yes AMSOIL is not a scam. It is a well-established MLM company that's already running for years. However, it will require your hard work, skills and the guts to progress in the business though it doesn’t place more focus on recruitment compared to other MLMs. 

You should be good at sales and selling your product. And also motor oil is not a product that anyone can sell. You should really know your product to persuade people to buy and you should know the right leads. 

So for those who are not familiar with these kinds of products and businesses, it will be a challenge. Yes, it can give you income, but it will take time. So, if I were you better skip this one!
