The first time I tried scratch cards, I quickly realized why many people are spending money (a lot of money to be exact) on a piece of paper. It’s quite thrilling to know that there’s a very small chance to earn thousands or if you’re luckier than lucky, millions of dollars.

However, it’s not really ideal to spend money on scratch or lottery card over and over again but if you’re addicted to this feeling, there’s an app called “Lucktastic”, which has virtual scratch cards you can play with. It’s free and the best part is: you can win real money!

But how true are these claims? Is Lucktastic a scam or a legit way to win money online? How does it work?

Lucktastic, an app owned by Jump Ramp Games, is a free mobile application that claims to give you “unlimited chances to win $10,000 instantly”. You can find it in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. It is based in New York City and was founded by Alex Betancur and Tony Vartanian in 2014. 

The app supplies scratch cards which give you the chance to earn cash or gift cards. According to their page, their mobile application was featured on various reputable networks, such as Discovery Channel, Yahoo!, and Reuters.

How Lucktastic Works?

You can start by downloading the app on your iOS or Android device. You will then be required to share your location and confirm your zip code. The app is available for US residents only so if you’re living outside the United States, it’s either you can’t see the app on your Apple App Store or Google Play Store or in case you’re lucky to download it, you won’t be able to use it.

After downloading the app, you can now start playing with Lucktastic app.

How To Make Money With Lucktastic?

There are various ways to earn with Lucktastic and one of the most popular options is to play scratch cards. If you’re not familiar with this, all you have to do is match 3 symbols from the 6 boxes. If you’re lucky to get 3 similar icons, you can wish cash but if not, you still earn tokens. The tokens, by the way, can be exchanged for gift cards or used to participate in contests. 

For scratch cards, you have the chance to win $2 to $1,500 or, if you have played a number of scratch cards already, you have the chance to win $10,000. While the app’s absolutely free, you need to watch a short video first (about 30 seconds to 1 minute long) before you can start playing.

There are also sponsored apps present in the platform and you can win up to 300 tokens for downloading any of it. If you’re a college student, you can also earn an incentive by becoming their ambassador. Through this, you can score merchandise, such as apparel, pens, and stickers. You can also get additional tokens for convincing your classmates and schoolmates to download the app.

Like other mobile applications, you can also earn as much as 1,000 tokens for referring people. To do this, you just have to click the Lucktastic icon on the upper left corner (the clover icon), tap “Friends”, and share it via email, SMS, Twitter, or Facebook. 

Once you have at least $1 in your account, you can ask your payment using Dwolla -- a mobile payment platform. Meanwhile, if you have over $10 in your account, you can request a check. You also have the option to exchange your cash into gift cards, and you can do this if you have at least $2 in your account.

I cannot say directly that Lucktastic is a scam. I’ve seen a good number of positive reviews about this application and they have even showcased the faces of people who have won cash and tokens using the app on their website.

However, there are negative feedback, too, such as the ones stated in the Better Business Bureau. Some users complained about unredeemed gift cards because apparently, the GCs are out of stock. Sketchy, right? I mean, many people have wasted their time using the app only to get nothing in return.

Lucktastic is free to download, therefore you don’t need to pay for anything. However, it seems like you can only use it for past time because the chances to win cash here is extremely limited. Without a doubt, the app is entertaining, especially if you’re a fan of scratch cards; however, if you’re looking for a legit opportunity to make money online, you are wasting your time using this app.

I played scratch cards before and it’s quite addicting and I guess the feeling with Lucktastic app is almost the same. The best part is -- you don’t have to spend a dime for it. It’s a good app you can enjoy during your free time and the best part is, it might reward you with tokens or cash just by playing. Of course, do not set high expectations about this app to avoid disappointment.

Low Payment Threshold

If you want to withdraw your cash via Dwolla, you only need to have $2 in your account. The same thing when you want to redeem gift cards, you only need a couple of dollars to get a Dunkin Donuts, Walmart, or Amazon GCs.

Free Tokens Every Game

Another thing that I like about this app is that you will get tokens every game. Even if you’re not lucky enough to win cash, at least you will still be rewarded with tokens which you can exchange for gift cards.

CONS

Limited Access

Lucktastic is only available in the United States, therefore if you’re not a U.S. resident, you will not be able to download this app.

Gift Cards Cannot Be Redeemed

I’ve seen more than a couple of complaints about out-of-stock gift cards and that’s not a good sign. I mean, a lot of users have spent their time and effort referring friends, watching video ads, and scratching cards to earn tokens but in the end, they won’t be able to redeem GCs simply because it’s not available.

Not An Income Opportunity

With Lucktastic, you only win cash out of luck. So if you’re not lucky, you won’t be able to get anything out of it. That being said, you cannot rely on this app if you want to replace your day job or you want to have a source of extra income.

Basically, Lucktastic app is created for two kinds of people -- business owners and players. This app is more than just gaming; it provides an opportunity for businesses to promote their brands and interact with their potential market. They can put ads or even short video clips to market their products and services.

On the other hand, it’s ideal for anyone who enjoys playing scratch cards and lottery. It’s free so if you’re someone who hopes to win cash but doesn’t want to spend money, then you can consider this option. However, like the regular scratch cards, you only rely on luck, therefore, you cannot use this as a source of a stable income.
