Named Steeped Tea, the brand focuses on promoting teas, such as chai, earl grey, sweet peach, and more.

It’s making a buzz online and surprisingly, it’s for good reasons. However, there are still a few cons to watch out so before you sign up, be sure to read the entire Steeped Tea review first.

Steeped Tea is a network marketing company founded by Tonia Jahsan in 2006. What started as a passion turned into a huge retail empire, earning $20 million in just 10 years. However, it did not happen overnight as it was only in 2012 when the brand had a big break.

As the name suggests, the brand promotes various kinds of teas but there are also other tools and goods available that we’ll discuss below. 

For now, let’s have a quick history of the brand.

As mentioned, Steeped Tea started as a passion. 

Before the brand was established, Tonia and her husband suffered from a miscarriage, taking them to B&B in Nova Scotia, Canada to unwind. 

It was there when her love for loose leaf tea started. 

After knowing the tea company, she bought a large quantity and held tea parties for her families and friends.

Her creativity in selling the tea is probably the main reason why her business became a success.

Soon, the couple realized that the business is growing and the best way to handle it is through direct selling. 

Started the business with close friends, the brand has over ten thousand consultants in Canada and the US now. 

Steeped Tea Product Line

The main products of Steeped Tea are loose leaf teas, such as white tea, oolong tea, black tea, herbal tea, and fruit tea.

They also have matcha and Kombucha, which are both beneficial to the body when it comes to digestion and removing toxins.

Steeped Tea also sells dressings, seasonings, scone mixes, and teawares you can use when drinking your tea.

And now, the much-awaited question -- are the products worth trying?

Based on the sources I found online, yes. The teas are competitive and I believe that it’s worth the time and money, considering the trend we have today.

More and more people are becoming conscious of their health, physically and mentally and part of it is investing in products like tea or coffee because of the benefits it gives. 

Steeped Tea is not a scam.

It’s a legit MLM company with a promising story of how they started. The brand has received recognition, awards, and certifications, including:

• Organic Certification
• DSA (Direct Selling Association)
• Profit 500 for 2013 up to 2017

The founder is also known as one of the 100 Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs in 2016.

Considering this, we can say that Steeped Tea is not a scam but due to the complaint received against the opportunity and service, it’s best to weigh the pros and cons first before signing up.

For instance, while the products are competitive, the customer service provided by the company is poor.

Steeped Tea follows a legit business model of network marketing. It offers two ways to make money, including retail sales and recruitment commissions.

Based on the resources, it’s less likely to become a pyramid scheme because first of all, it’s a member of DSA and another thing is that it doesn’t go with the usual MLM malpractices.

While there’s recruitment involved, the brand does not solely rely on it for profit. They also focus on developing quality products and retail sales, thus far from being a pyramid scheme. 

Steeped Tea is not a Ponzi scheme, too because it doesn’t ask for investment to get huge returns. 

There are two ways to make money with Steeped Tea. 

The first one is by selling their products to earn a retail commission. As a distributor, you have access to their wholesale price so you can sell their teas, tools, and goods based on the suggested retail price. 

As for the rate, those who have just started get around 25% commissions and can go high as 40%. 

Members can also invite people to grow their team and like usual MLMs, earn residual commissions from it. 

The thing is, unlike pyramid schemes, distributors don’t earn directly from the recruitment rather the sales that their downline or team makes. 

As a distributor, you can use the founder’s common practice in promoting their essentials, which is by hosting a party. 

While it’s an interesting approach, it’s challenging to host a party now considering the pandemic that we are facing. Yes, it can be done online but there’s a huge difference when the party’s held in person. Unless you’re willing to shoulder the shipping fee and other expenses to let your attendees try your products, marketing the essentials can be difficult.

Legit MLM With Inspiring Story

I admire the humble beginning of Steeped Tea, considering that it started as a passion. The founder did put attention on developing not only the products but also the system for its distributors. 

I also commend the brand for the recognitions, certifications, and awards it has achieved; it only shows how legit the company is.

Reasonable Product And Membership Price

Unlike usual MLMs, Steeped Tea managed to offer affordable rates for their products. It’s not overly priced and considering the name it’s made, especially in Canada, it might be worth every penny.

CONS

Limited Market

As of now, the opportunity and products are available in the US and Canada only. It’s good in the sense that you have a specific market but there’s a huge chance for you to have bigger sales and a team if you can market it outside Canada and the US.

Limited Income Potential

As an MLM, it’s hard to earn from the opportunity simply because you have to focus on building your team to achieve a higher rank and bigger commissions.

A study also suggests that 99% of MLM distributors fail and lose their money so before you join this brand, it’s best to find out if this is really worth your time.

Like usual MLM, the brand offers training and resources to help members learn about their products and marketing strategies. Your upline or sponsor might also provide you some learning materials and videos to help you grow your business.

Overall, I like how Steeped Tea works. 

Not that it’s very unusual, it’s just that unlike typical networking companies, it’s not aggressive with expanding their team. It focuses on improving its products rather than inviting people to join the program.

However, it’s not enough to join an opportunity just because of this. It would be better if you have tried the products first and really like them so it would be easier for you to market them.

Otherwise, it would be good if you will only consider it as a side hustle and look for another source of income online.
