Overall Rating: X/10

Recommended: Yes/No

It has been around for that long but still surprising, it got tons of negative complaints to deal with in regards to its products and the opportunity itself. However, they won’t survive the business industry, especially the multi-level marketing (MLM) niche for a reason.

So what’s the deal? Should you give it a try or not? Is Partylit legit or a low-quality program you should not try?

Find out everything you need to know in this Partylite review.

What Is Partylite About?

Partylite or also known as Partylite Gifts, Inc. is a multi-level marketing company that sells home decors, fragrances, and scented products. Its main product line is scented candles.

The company was started way back in the early 1900s by a school teacher named Mabel Baker.

partylite founder Mabel Baker

In 1909, Mabel began making bayberry candles in her Cape Cod kitchen, and soon, she was producing the finest candles in New England. From those sweet, fragrant beginnings emerged Partylite.

Later on, in 1973, a new concept and a new brand called Partylite Gifts, Inc. came to life following Mabel’s legacy and the company incorporated the multi-level marketing platform.

PartyLite is headquartered in Norwell, Massachusetts USA and its main manufacturing headquarters is in Plymouth, Massachusetts USA. It has 13 office locations across 13 countries.

The company generated $347 million in global revenue annually in a couple of countries all over the world.

Partylite is a division of Blyth, Inc., which is a direct consumer business whose headquarters is based in Greenwich, Connecticut USA. Other than Partylite, another subsidiary includes the MLM -- Visalus

They claim that passion, pride, and celebration are at the heart of everything they do. They also stated, “Creating the world’s finest fragranced candles. Always ethically-sourced ingredients that are better for the planet and better for you.”

Partylite Product Line

As mentioned, Partylite sells home decors, fragrances, and of course, its flagship product that Partylite has been known for years - the scented candles.

They also offer unscented candles, scented wax melts, and wax warmers.

With regards to their products, Partylite may claim that their products are ethically sourced and ecologically friendly. They may show the ingredients on each product but the specific chemicals used to create each product are not stipulated.

partylite products

There is no information on their website on whether Partylite candles and wax melts contain toxic chemicals that could be harmful to anyone's health.

However, I’ve only seen a third-party source saying that PartyLite candles are made from food-grade paraffin wax, with no harmful chemicals, which means that your child or pet could eat one and it wouldn't be harmed.

And also, each candle has a pure cotton wick, which emits white smoke instead of black since there is no lead in it. They claim it’s healthier as you won’t get black soot marks on your walls or ceiling. They also offer soy candles and specialty wooden wick candles, which are completely natural.

Well, their candles are long-standing. I’ve seen reviews saying that you’re getting true value for your money. The fragrance and wick of Partylite candles will last the entire burn length of the candle and not quit halfway like what would happen to other candles. But this is just information I found online and not directly from the website. So, it still needs further validation.

Is Partylite A Scam?

PartyLite is one of the great established companies in the direct-selling industry and it’s also a long-standing member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) and though not Better Bureau Business accredited, it has a BBB profile and is even rated A+.

what is partylite

It’s also pretty long in the business scene as its roots even trace back to the 1900s and its MLM side has been on the run for 47 years.

Considering the number of years it has in the business industry and the legit products and the business opportunity it offers, we can conclude that it’s not a scam.

Is Partylite A Pyramid Scheme/Ponzi Scheme?

Being an MLM itself that also encourages recruitment, Partylite is not a pyramid scheme.

Recruitment is not the only way to make money here as there are legit products you can sell and earn from. Yes, you can earn bigger from recruitment but is not the only means of getting remunerated, as you can sell their products and earn even without recruiting.

It’s also not a Ponzi Scheme as it doesn’t promise high rates of return. Yes, most MLMs incentivize recruitment and so as in Partylite but it comes as a way of motivation. They encourage recruitment but don’t necessarily impose it. And there’’s no investment here. Thus, it’s not a Ponzi Scheme.

Partylite Compensation Plan

Being an MLM, Partylite offers a way to make money through retail and recruitment commissions.

Retail Commission

The first way to receive a commission is simply of a typical retail payment which is the difference between the retail cost in addition to wholesale cost are profits you retain.

To be eligible for direct purchase commissions, you must sell $500 in sales monthly.

As a Partylite consultant, you will get a 25% discount on all the products, which translates to a 25% profit for each product that you sell to non-members. And if you manage to sell a total of $2300 products, you get an additional 5% - 7% commission.

Recruitment Commissions

Another way to make commissions is by group purchase commissions where you can make between 2% to 7% in group sales. The amount you are on is determined by the amount your team adds to the amount of money obtained.

Partylite gives bonuses when recruiting people under your team. You will earn a 50% bonus on your directly sponsored members on their first month sales and a 7% commission on all the people under you every month.

Thus, just like most MLM opportunities are, if you want to make more money selling Partylite candles, you better double-time recruiting people and build a sales team that does the same.

Pros/Cons

PROS

Established Company

The roots of Partylite have been around for more than a century and its MLM side has been as well operational for 47 years and that’s already a pretty good record.

Up until now, they are still living to the legacy their founder has started more than a hundred years ago. It’s a long-standing member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) and though not Better Bureau Business accredited, it has a BBB profile and is even rated A+, which makes it pretty much a legit business.

CONS

Must-Have $500 Sales Monthly

To be eligible for direct purchase commissions, you must sell $500 in sales monthly and that’s already quite a big amount. So you should have the right leads and customers or if not you have to purchase the products yourself.

Lacks Transparency

Partylite lacks transparency. Well, no doubt that it's an established company for the long years it has been in business but one of the drawbacks is that some vital information is lacking on their website such as the information about the specific chemicals/ingredients in its products.

I’ve found some information on other sites and not on their own website. Yes, there is no information on their website on whether Partylite candles and wax melts contain toxic chemicals that could be detrimental to health.

Success Is Gonna Be Hard

Yes, indeed there’s no easy opportunity. Yes, you’ll earn in Partylite but it’s definitely gonna be a lot of hard work. It’s not a hot market so sales will be hard. You should have the right leads and prospects.

Well, it can be good as a side income but not for a living, especially to the right person who knows how MLM works. However, in most cases, the income is low and success is almost difficult to achieve.

Training Tools/Support

As a Partylite affiliate and Independent consultant, you will have access to the back office. Affiliates are also assured by Partylite as they claim that they've got their backs with training, online tools, and support, plus a community of supportive #HappyPartyLitePeople.

Final Opinion/Verdict

Partylite is an established and long-standing company. It is definitely a scam and you can make money selling and promoting Partylite candles and their affiliate program. However, it will definitely take a lot of hard work to arrive at the lucrative income you desire.

It’s also a typical MLM business that will still encourage you to recruit. That being said, it’s going to be challenging, especially for those who are new to this platform.

Also, you have to reach the $500 quota every month to be qualified for commissions. It’s a lot of pressure and more or less, you’re going to be left with products in your basement.

Unless this is fine with you, I suggest that you look for a better alternative now.
