However, after reviewing more than a dozen MLM companies, I found out that not all of them are scams. In fact, some can really help you create money and be your own boss.

Plexus Worldwide is a multi-level marketing company that promotes dietary supplements, weight loss products, and skincare essentials. It was founded by Alfred Pettersen and Tarl Robinson in 2006.

While MLM is a legit business model, this kind of business always encounter the same problems, such as the way they invite new people to join their program and the prices of their products.

Because of this, most MLM companies only last for a couple of years. However, this is not the case with Plexus since they've been operating for more than 10 years.

Plexus Product Line

Plexus is focused on selling products that could help in losing weight and detoxification that’s why most of it are supplements, meal replacements, and protein shakes. The company also promotes skincare essentials that helps in reducing signs of aging.

While Plexus is a popular health and wellness brand, it’s also known for some bad reasons. For one, FDA warned them for providing misleading claims on their website. This issue is specifically about their three products, namely Fast Relief, BioCleanse, and ProBio5. 

Meanwhile, Environment Research Center filed a legal action against Plexus for failing to mention that their product have lead. Considering this, one should be cautious enough before buying any of their products.

How To Make Money With Plexus Worldwide?

MLM companies are known for providing business opportunities. With Plexus, you can buy the products on a special member price or discount and sell it according to the suggested retail price. They call this “Retail Rewards Commissions”.

Another way to make money is to invite more people to join the program. However, you do not simply earn money for a successful referral rather, your referral should purchase any kits or packages so you can get incentives or other rewards. You can also earn through Preferred Customer Bonus.

Income Disclosure

Despite the issues on their products, it’s good to know that Plexus Worldwide is honest about the income that their distributors -- or ambassadors as what they call it -- obtained from the program. Some similar programs I’ve encountered before do not disclose this information.

Anyway, according to their 2018 Income Disclosure Statement, Top 1% of their ambassadors earn an average of $79, 624 a year and that it takes at least 2 years to reach this. Meanwhile, their Top 10% earn $13,550 every year.

Plexus is not a scam and considering the number of years of their operation, you’ll know their company is legit. However, there are a few things you need to consider first before you join the program or other MLM companies.

No Control Over The Business

While you can start your own business by just purchasing any of their kit, you have no control over the company in case authorities or agencies, such as the FTC or FDA, decide to close it. FDA, for example, has made their claims already against the Plexus and in case the agency has come up with an unlikeable decision, the only thing you can do is deal with it.

Too Many Supplies, Only A Few Demand

For most people, losing and maintaining the right weight is challenging, therefore there’s a demand for products that can help them overcome this struggle. The problem is, there are too many brands that promote such products; some of those are cheaper than the essentials that Plexus are promoting.

On top of this, you are competing with other Plexus Ambassadors so you have to double, if not triple your effort if you want to make this business work.

Ruin Relationship

MLM companies pose attractive offers, such as bigger commissions and travel incentives, so their members are motivated to invite more people.Because of this, many distributors are being aggressive in growing their team That might involve telling false or exaggerated claims.

If you’re one of them, there’s a chance that you will ruin your relationship with friends and family members because of wrong expectations. Also, you may not realize it but you are already annoying them with your consistent messages and phone calls about joining the platform.

In case you rely on the Better Business Bureau (BBB), maybe it’s a relief to know that Plexus is not accredit but has an A+ rating. However, it got a few complaints and most of which are because of their refund system.

Most members complained about being charged a few months, even years, after canceling their membership or refusing the product.

Legit MLM Company

For some people, MLM is a good opportunity especially if you’re good at making a sale and inviting people to join. Therefore, it’s a relief to know that Plexus is a legit program when you want to find network marketing companies that promote health and wellness products.

CONS

Low Income Potential

As mentioned above, there are too many brands promoting weight loss. For instance, if you look at Amazon, you’ll see cheaper alternatives and considering this, it would be a challenge to sell similar products at a higher price. In addition, you are competing with other Plexus Ambassadors so unless you’re skilled at doing this, your investment is in trouble.

Broken Relationships

This is true. I’ve been invited a few times in various MLM companies and I’ve regretted attending their talk that’s why every time I see a friend encouraging me to join their platform, I ignore them.

I refuse their phone calls and I don’t reply to their message at all. This might happen to you and in the end, whether a person decided to join your team or not, you might still end up with a broken relationship because 1) you failed to meet their expectations or 2) your endless invitation annoys them.

On top of this, some people still think that multi-level marketing and pyramid scheme is one. While both will require you to encourage more people to join the platform, a pyramid scheme has no tangible products to offer. They only pay you a commission for every successful referral and not for your referral’s sales.

Personally, I’m not a fan of MLM companies however, I know a lot of people who have earned money because of this platform. If you’re into losing weight or skincare and if you are good at convincing people, you can consider this option.
