Is Take Shape For Life A Scam? The TRUTH About Its Rebrand

One of the most oversaturated niches is health and wellness. It’s common not only in the multi-level marketing (MLM) world but on other platforms as well, with slimming essentials as its most common product.

Well, we can’t deny the fact that a lot of people are into fitness and various brands are taking advantage of this. 

In this post, we will talk about a brand called Take Shape for Life (TSFL). 

Apparently, it doesn’t only offer the weight loss program but also an earning opportunity through their MLM platform.  

Take Shape For Life claims to help people generate health and wealth at the same time through their solid product and business model.  

Is it true?  

Would joining as a distributor or what they call a “Coach” in TFSL be worth the shot?  

Will it give you a lucrative income? But was it really rebranded? That and more, we will tackle in this Take Shape For Life Review!

Take Shape For Life is an MLM company in the health and wellness niche that primarily supplements that target weight loss. In fact, the company promotes the “Trilogy of Optimal Health'' as they believe that one should have a healthy body, a healthy mind, and healthy finances.  

But apparently, Take Shape For Life no longer exists. If you would go to Take Shape For Life’s website “www.tsfl.com” it will redirect you to Optavia’s landing page “https://www.optavia.com/”.  

Well, basically it’s still the same company with the same set of products and services. However, they have been transformed to become an independent company, which is now named Optavia.

Unlike before that, they were a subsidiary of Medifast, which was established way back in 1980. 

Take Shape For Life was founded in 2002 by Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen and the late Bradley T. Macdonald. The two brought this company with the idea of promoting meal replacement products, a healthy lifestyle, and the choice to request a coach or an adviser.   

It was in 2016 when Take Shape For Life decided to go on their way and set-up their own independent company for a greater purpose and so it has been rebranded to Optavia and it's the brand that they had adopted ever since. 

Take Shape For Life Product Line 

Apparently, the main product that Take Shape For Life offers is meal replacement which is a substitute for the main meals with the purpose to help people lose weight by controlling their intake and nutrition. 

These are some of the products included in the meal replacements that they offer:

• Shakes
• Bars
• Brownies
• Pancakes
• Mac and Cheese

Take Shape For Life comes with products that you could earn from as you sell. However, being an MLM in nature, you will still opt to recruit to gain bonuses and perks but the good thing about their unique compensation plan is that they don't compensate distributors for recruiting members. Thus, it’s not a pyramid scheme nor a Ponzi scheme.

Take Shape For Life is built on an MLM platform, so basically, you’ll earn from product sales, gain perks from recruitment, and benefit most when you advance in ranks.  

So to earn, you have to: 

• Recruit downlines (getting more members to join the program under you).
  • Sell their products and earn commissions.
    • Help your downlines make money.
    • Progress in ranks to make more money. 

As a Fast-Track Health Coach, you permanently earn commissions of 20% of the volume ordered by Clients and 20% of the volume ordered by your personally sponsored Health Coaches.  

As a Health Professional Health Coach

You permanently earn Compliance Fees of 20% of the volume ordered by Clients and 20% of the volume ordered by your personally sponsored Health Coaches.  

30-day Client Acquisition Bonus (CAB)

You can earn this one-time 30-day CAB of $100 by developing 5 frontline clients or personally sponsored Health Coaches that, combined, generate a total of $1000 in front line volume or more from orders within your first 30 days of joining TSFL.  

Assist Bonus

You can also assist new Health Coaches you sponsor (and those in your organization) in helping them earn a 30-day Client Acquisition Bonus. Whenever you help a new Health Coach earn their CAB of $100, you will be paid a matching bonus of $100.  

Becoming a Senior Coach

To advance to the rank of Senior Coach, you must have group volume totaling $1000(ARP) or more in one month from a combination of at least five (5) personally ordering Clients and/or Health Coach teams. 

Since most new clients order more than $200 in their first month on a Medifast program. All qualified Senior Coaches earn: Commissions of 20% of the volume (ARP) ordered by Clients and 20% of the volume (ARP) ordered by your personally sponsored Health Coaches.  

Rolling Consistency Bonuses

Take Shape For Life has set aside special bonuses and recognition for Health Coaches who display client order volume consistency month after month. These Rolling Consistency Bonuses can mean up to an additional $1000 every three (3) months. 

Joining Take Shape For Life’s money-making opportunity will cost the purchase of a $199 Health Coach Business Kit, which is already inclusive of the training and marketing materials that will help a distributor get started.  

Basically, this purchase kind of serves as a membership fee as a distributor or what they refer to as a “health coach”.  

And after a year, these health coaches will have to renew their membership by paying $99 a year. In addition to this, you’ll also purchase a program/package to start selling and earning. As mentioned above, these are the cost of their health plans: 

• Optimal Weight 5 and 1 Plan
  
  • Essential Optimal Kit - $356.15
  • Essential Optimal Kit with the Habits of Health System - $392.15
• Optimal Health 3 and 3 Plan - $273.55

PROS

Not Recruitment-Based

It’s good that Take Shape for Life’s Distributors are only compensated based on the number of sales and how well their downlines perform. Unlike other MLMs who are overly hyped with recruitment.

Products Are Well-Researched

One thing commendable about these meal replacements that Take Shape For Life offers is that their ingredients and nutrition are well-researched and science-based. And it’s also good that they offer more than 60 choices of meal replacements.  

Solid Company Background

Though not BBB accredited, Take Shape For Life has a solid company background. The parent company Medifast has been known in the healthcare and weight loss industry and it’s even recommended by more than 20,000 doctors since 1980. With this, we can take Take Shape For Life as a credible and trusted company. 

30-Day Refund

It’s good that they have a 30 day refund period if you're not satisfied with their product. This is good because there would be cases where some people will complain about the taste of their meal replacements. You know, every business has its challenges and it’s quite impossible to satisfy every single person's taste. 

CONS

Weird Tasting Products

Though their products are science-based and well-researched, some of their products taste weird from the normal so it’ll be quite impossible for you to replace your normal meal fully. So, most probably consumers (who are sensitive to taste) will have difficulty following the diet regimen and go for other substitutes.  

Overly Expensive

From the membership to the products, the prices are overly high. With a lot of competition in the health and wellness market with companies selling also the same products, it will be a challenge marketing and selling such a line of products taking into consideration that they are pretty expensive. 

Not A Real Coach Title

As mentioned, their independent distributors are referred to as a “health coach” and this can confuse as people might think that they are really knowledgeable in health when the truth of the matter is most of these distributors are not really an expert in health or weight loss. So, the title doesn't really mean anything. It’s just an empty unreal title.

Unsustainable

The truth is that if you really want to lose weight, you shouldn’t just rely on meal replacement but you also have to do your part by exercising because it’s the most important element in losing weight.

Yes, meal replacements can be a short-term measure but over time, it’ll probably be unsustainable. Are you going to deprive yourself of all the delectable foods for the rest of your life? I will not! 

Independent Distributors Are Not Earning Much

As per statistic shows, in their 2015 Income Disclosure Statement, 95% of their health coaches fail and that’s more than half. The statistic is alarming and I guess this is one of the reasons they revamped Take Shape For Life into Optavia.

The price of $199 (which I could say is unreasonably high) is just inclusive of the training and marketing materials that will help a distributor or a health coach get started in their Take Shape For Life business. 

Well, no doubt that Take Shape For Life has a solid company background and has a solid authority in the healthcare and weight loss industry. It was not a scam and has been a legitimate company.  

However, as mentioned the name Take Shape For Life no longer exists instead it was revamped to Optavia. And one possible reason I could say that caused the rebranding is the fact that the health coaches aren’t earning.  

So probably the company thought of a new gimmick to draw the market and draw new distributors, so my verdict is no. Why would I recommend you to a company name that no longer exists? 

Even if it does, the answer is still the same. Better skip this platform now.

Well, guess this that TSFL is not the opportunity for you, right? Don’t worry I have a better alternative.
