In this post, we will tackle its pros and cons, how it works, its compensation plan, and more to help you come up with a sensible decision.

What Is Family First Life About?

Family First Life is basically life insurance that specializes in mortgage protection. It follows a multi-level marketing (MLM) structure, making it similar to the following platforms:

Being an MLM, it offers an affiliate program to what they refer to as Family First Life Agents. As an agent, your number one priority is to protect families, thus the name “Family First” Life.

It’s a company that helps you become a licensed insurance agent as Family First Life, providing free-agent training for their growth and success.

You'll also get agent resources like an aggressive compensation plan, innovative lead program, and more. While you could definitely earn on this income opportunity, selling policies, you are still required to recruit.

Family First Life claims that it has the infrastructure to enable your family to succeed. So basically, you can either become the client who will make use of the insurance itself or you can become an agent, gaining commissions from your sales and recruitment.

This is their Philosophy for Agents:

  • It’s about the team
  • It’s about new paths
  • It’s about the agent
  • It’s about generations
  • It’s about security
  • It’s about the client

Family First Life philosophy

Family First Life also believes that every agent should net a minimum of $100,000 yearly and this is the reason they offer competitive contracts and strong renewals on multiple products.

Family First Life was founded by Shawn Meaike who currently serves as the President of the company in 2013. The brand is under Integrity Marketing Group, LLC, which is the leading independent distributor of life and health insurance products focused on serving the Senior Market.

Family First Life is based out of Connecticut USA and it has multiple affiliated offices located across the country.

Family First Life also has a clothing line called “Family First Life Apparel”.

Family First Life Product Line

Family First Life is a life insurance company but if you would check the website, you would not see any specific detail with regards to its insurance policies.

It seems like they market more affiliate opportunities than their products.

If you would want a quote of a specified Policy of choice, you can go click the “Get a Quote” option, log in your details, and choose the type of coverage you want, and fill in the amount of coverage.

They’ll process stuff for you and probably lead you to an agent and explain it in detail for you.

By the way, these are the types of coverage in their choices:

  • Whole Life
  • Mortgage Protection
  • Final Expense
  • Universal Life
  • Annuity
  • Medicare Supplement

As to the MLM opportunity that seemed to be more advertised on their website. As an agent, Family First Life gives you the resources for growth and success as they offer:

  • Aggressive Compensation Plan
  • Innovative Lead Program
  • FREE Agent Training
  • Customer Relationship Management(CRM)
  • 3 Types Of Income
  • Top Carriers

Is Family First Life A Scam?

Family First Life is not a scam. It is a legit insurance company that doesn’t only provide insurance but also provides an MLM opportunity.

It may not be that long but the company has been in the business for 8 years.

And after a year of operating, it was also already accredited by the Better Bureau Business (BBB) with an A+, which certainly proves its authenticity.

But still, I would not recommend this to you.

It’s still an MLM that will have a heavy focus on recruitment. Their website is even focused on marketing their affiliate program rather than their insurance products or policies. Their marketing pitch is more likely geared to magnify the agent resources that they offer.

Is Family First Life A Pyramid Scheme/Ponzi Scheme?

Family First Life is not a Pyramid Scheme but just like most MLMs that have the recruitment hype, it can have the dangers to be one.

On the bright side, it’s a legit company with a real business opportunity and a bountiful compensation plan.

They have insurance policies you could sell and get commissions from as a Family First Life Agent.

Though your bigger income will indeed come from advancing in ranks through recruitment, it’s not basically the sole source of income here. Thereby, it’s not a Pyramid Scheme and it’s also not a Ponzi scheme.

Family First Life Compensation Plan

Being an MLM, basically, you’ll earn in Family First Life’s Compensation Plan through:

  • Selling the insurance
  • Recruitment

As they advertise on their website, Family First Life offers 3 types of income, including:

  • Direct sales commissions - Derived from the policies that you personally sell. The average paycheck per policy is $675.
  • Agency overrides - If you decide to start an Agency with FFL, you would receive an override commission on any agent that you hire when they sell a policy. The override commission is equal to the difference in commission levels between you and your agents. The average override commission is 15% of the Annual Premium.
  • Renewal Commissions - The average renewal commission is 5% of the Annual Premium.

Basically, you can get paid in multiple ways which means you’ll always find a way to earn.

Just like most MLMs are, the higher the ranks the higher the earnings.

See a detailed explanation about the company and its compensation plan in the video below:

How Much To Join Family First Life?

Unlike other MLMs that require a bunch of fees, you actually don’t have a contract with Family First Life and you could join as an agent for free.

Since you don’t have a contract, the moment you want to leave and venture into some new earning opportunity, you can just get a release in 24-48 hours. All it takes is to sign up and get trained.

But remember, you need to be a licensed agent first to be able to sell policies. That means you still have to take licensure exams that could cost around $200 or more.

Pros/Cons

PROS

Family First Priority And It’s Also About The Agent

I like the thought of the Family First Priority, not only that this business values their clients but also the agents that join in their income opportunity. They even offer the best training for them for free.

Plus, their agent resources are pretty comprehensive and really of help to their agents. Well, after all, they do act as the frontliners of the business.

It’s Free And You Can Earn

Who wouldn’t want an opportunity that’s free and can even let you earn income. They even claim that Family First Life’s compensation plan is abundant although I believe it would still definitely require a lot of effort.

CONS

Not So Catchy Website

In my own personal opinion, the website is a bit bland and plain.

I would suggest that they would make it quite attractive or interesting. If they can’t go for colorful ones then they could at least try some aesthetic or minimalistic designs that would also capture clients or potential agents.

A website is the face of the brand, so it’s essential to also focus on branding.

Focus On Duplication

Well, duplication in terms of duplicating yourself as an agent. In short, it’s still on recruitment.

As I mentioned above, it’s more on marketing its affiliate program than its product. Your promotion and as well as being able to earn big commissions is not only dependent on your sales but as well as on how well you’ve duplicated yourself by recruiting and engaging more “agents-to-be”.

It’s basically just like most MLMs that do this recruitment bandwagon.

Training Tools/Support

Family First Life’s affiliate program really provides affiliates with essential Agent Resources such as an Innovative Lead Program, FREE Agent Training, innovative lead program, Customer Relationship Management(CRM), and Top Carriers all geared to promote agent’s growth and success.

Support is also made available for everyone.

Final Opinion/Verdict

Well, in closing, it’s no doubt that Family First Life is a legit insurance company that clients can benefit from and agents can earn from as they sell the policies.

Well, if you are someone who finds joy helping families and at the same time earn income, then Family First Life will probably be a good fit for you but I believe it’s best as a part-time job. As an agent, it will definitely take you time to climb up the ranks so you can start seeing good financial results. You know running on an MLM platform is never easy.

And being an MLM, it’s also hyped with recruitment. Even their website speaks a lot about the Agent opportunity rather than their products. Yes the training is good but I believe it’s only best for the Family First Life opportunity but outside of the opportunity, it may not be beneficial.

I get that joining the opportunity is free but technically, it’s not, it will still cost you your effort, internet, and electricity bills, or even transportation to meet clients.

Nothing comes without a cost. You’d still basically invest something. All the claims just seem too good to be true. Well, but if you think the opportunity it offers suits you, you can go ahead and try on this but there are definitely better ones than this.
