Quick Summary: YouGov is a long-standing UK-based online survey platform with a million members from over 100 countries. Apparently, just like most survey sites where you get paid as you take part in surveys.

Accomplishing such will credit you points, which can be redeemed through PayPal or Visa Gift Cards.

Overall Rating: 3/10

Recommended: No

Most are legit and can pay you for spending time to disclose your opinions and information. In short, you get paid as you take part in surveys and that is how YouGov and most survey sites operate.

The downside is that, despite being legitimate, the pay is less than enough to buy a meal.

Would YouGov be any different?

Is it a legit site that helps reputable brands mine data or is it an outright scam?

Does it have a better compensation plan or will it just waste your time?

We’ll know more as we go through this review and talk more about YouGov.

what is yougov about

What Is YouGov About?

YouGov is a survey site that pays when you share your opinions through the surveys they give. Most questionnaires offered on the site are purely opinion, along with some financial and technical job experience information.

YouGov has a long track record when it comes to taking surveys and polls. In fact, it’s more than a decade old in operations as a giant in marketing research.

It’s a British international Internet-based market research and data analytics firm that is based in the UK but it already has operations in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

YouGov founder Stephan Shakespeare Nadhim Zahawi

Though located in the UK, the site has several million members from over 100 countries, thus proving that it’s already gone global.

It was founded in the UK by current CEO Stephen Shakespeare and future Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi in May of 2000.

YouGov Product Line

There are no products or services offered in YouGov; what it has instead is an earning opportunity where one can earn some income by accomplishing surveys and handing in opinions.

Most surveys are relatively short, with the longest taking around 20 minutes.

Like most survey sites, it also offers a referral program where one can earn extra cash by inviting people to join the program.

Is YouGov A Scam?

YouGov is not a scam.

It’s pretty established with a more than a decade-old track record when it comes to market research. It is also free to use and it does pay respondents to surveys.

It appears to be a legitimate online survey platform that enables you to earn some income. So, if you are opting for a source of full-time income, definitely not recommend this one to you.

Apparently, only YouGov America Inc. has a Better Bureau Business (BBB) record with a customer reviews rating of 4.55 out of 5. However, it’s not BBB accredited and the BBB Rating & Accreditation is F and this is due to failure to respond to 4 complaints filed against businesses.

Is YouGov A Pyramid Scheme/Ponzi Scheme?

YouGov is a legitimate online survey platform. Yes, it doesn’t offer products but it does offer a legit earning opportunity where you can gain some income.

It’s basically just an online opportunity where you answer some surveys, gain points and exchange it for cash.

Though they also offer a referral program where you get extra points for inviting someone to the program but it’s clear that income is not solely dependent on that.

That being said, it’s not a pyramid or a Ponzi scheme.

Here Is My Top Recommendation to Start Highly Profitable Online Business from Comfort Of Your Home

YouGov Compensation Plan

Just like most paid online survey sites, you’ll be rewarded with points as you complete surveys.

Points that can be exchanged for a long range of different rewards, such as gift cards or products.

Starting Bonus

YouGov will give you 100 bonus points as soon as you've joined and completed your welcome surveys.

YouGov Surveys

As a YouGov panelist, every time you participate in a survey you will receive points that you can redeem for great rewards. The more you take part, the more rewards you'll receive!

It is through these surveys that you could gain a reward or some income.

To start with a survey, you will be directed to the YouGov website where you can find out how many points you just earned, along with how many you have in total.

YouGov offers reasonable rewards for surveys compared to the time spent to complete one. It is simple and takes a small amount of time to participate.

On your first visit to the site, you get your first 100 points just for signing up and taking a very brief welcome survey (approximately three minutes).

Participants can decide whether they want to participate in a certain survey by seeing what the reward is, and the estimated time to take it.

Just like most Survey sites, YouGov offers a point reward system for taking part in various polls and surveys. Points can be accumulated over time and then redeemed at Payout where it can be through PayPal or prepaid Visa gift cards or whatever is available in your country. So, it’s still dependent on which country you live in. There is also the option of exchanging the points for a prepaid Visa gift card, which can be used wherever Visa is accepted as a method of payment.

Points can also be exchanged for prepaid gift cards, which can be used at a variety of retailers like iTunes, Amazon, Walmart, and more. You could as well have a variety of various products like t-shirts and tote bags.

Apparently, you redeem 5,000 points for $50 in cash.

In short, 1,000 points is good for $10, and the minimum threshold for redemption is 5,000 points.

The good news about this is that YouGov points don't expire.

Referral Program

Other than the surveys, YouGov allows people in some countries to earn some extra rewards by inviting friends to join up on the platform as well.

In short, they also offer a referral program that offers some income.

How Much To Join YouGov?

Just like most survey platforms, joining YouGov is free but before doing so, check if it is available in your country. It’s good to know that one of the best features of YouGov is that its survey panels are specific to each country.

Mostly, surveys would even be in your local language and relevant to where you live. Though available globally, YouGov also limits its opportunity to those who are 18 years old and above.

Once a person signs up to YouGov with their email address, they will receive an average of 5-7 surveys a week.

By clicking the link, you will see the approximate time required and how many points the survey pays.

The number and frequency of survey emails are dependent on some seasonal factors and with the respondent’s location.

Pros/Cons

PROS

Surveys For You

It’s good to find an opportunity to earn something from accomplishing and taking part in surveys.

It is also good to know that YouGov rarely sends a survey that you are not already qualified for since they gather personal data that would help you direct to a survey that is appropriate for you.

Privacy Safe

Since your survey sites require personal information, you should answer truthfully but no need to worry about your personal data since YouGov keeps your information confidential. They uphold a strict and inclusive privacy policy that ensures all personal data remains private and nothing is leaked out.

CONS

Limited Details And Market

One downside is that the email does not reveal how long those particular offerings will take to complete or the size of the reward.

Also, while YouGov is available in a couple of countries; it is limited to respondents that are over 18 years old. So for students younger than 18 years old, finding some extra income in their spare time with YouGov is taboo for you. Wait until you turn 18!

Just Great As A Side Hustle

Accomplishing surveys would only compensate you with some amount of money. It takes longer to get that $50 for the minimum payout.

Yes, you could opt-in recruiting others to join but that would also even take a lot. Yes, you could earn here but I believe it’s best as a side hustle. So income potential is low.

Training Tools/Support

YouGov has FAQs made available for users or respondents so if you have any questions, you could just check on the FAQ section on the website. There is a separate FAQ page for each country. But if the FAQs section is not enough for you and you have further questions then you can submit them to the YouGov support team and the response time depends most likely on the country where you are from.

Final Opinion/Verdict

After examining YouGov and what it can offer, I can say that it is a good opportunity -- that is if you’re into surveys. By that, I mean that you know how it works, that it might consume more time than expected, and that it pays only a few dollars a month.

However, if you’re looking for a full-time job that provides a better income, this is not a good option. Yes, it is a legit survey site and it is not a scam.

It’s also established with a decade-long track record. However, income is potentially low and in reality, it won’t help you achieve the financial freedom you desire.
